Feeling let down – Brexless Chickens

I guess we are all fed up with Brexit but I feel the need to vent my frustration.

It was Lewis Caroll who said, “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there“. And with  Brexit this is so true, nobody really knows what we are trying to achieve. You cannot undo 42 years of integration in two years, impossible!!!!

Not only that but there are millions of people who have made lives for themselves as EU citizens, working and living both in the UK and the rest of Europe. In one foul swipe, UK citizens living in Europe outside of the UK and EU citizens living in the UK have become akin to second class citizens. Our rights and privileges as EU citizens being tossed aside in the name of democracy!

I think that politicians should be more accountable for their behaviours and decision-making. In my view, David Cameron has a lot to answer for. Brexit was nothing more than a power play and its consequences dire for the country.

Politicians have cut off their own heads and are running around like headless chickens, Brexless chickens to be exact!

I respect that the country is divided over Brexit and when you look at all of the feedback from Brexit, it is clear that it is having a negative impact on the UK and Europe as a whole.

It is very naive of people to think that leaving the EU will somehow benefit them. It does not matter which side of the fence you are sitting on, the message is clear! Brexit is costly, messy and has no major benefits associated with it. If it did have, we would not be in this mess.

We are not going to benefit from leaving the EU, in fact, it will cost the British taxpayer dearly. We are being dragged back to the 20th century.

Brexit is failing because there are no clear outcomes, no clearly defined benefits, and no way of measuring the success or not of leaving the EU. It’s democracy for democracy’s sake!

As an EU citizen, I resent the fact that my EU status is being taken from me, I feel like someone is stealing my nationality from me. Yes, I am a British but I have long thought of myself as an EU citizen and lived like one.

Nobody should be able to take that from me!
